Morris Missry is the Managing Partner of Wachtel Missry LLP and the Chair of its Real Estate Department.
Long considered one of the most creative and knowledgeable attorneys in New York, Morris has been representing clients in real estate matters throughout the world for the past three decades. Morris has also acted as general counsel for a wide variety of prestigious, privately-held companies, representing them in a number of corporate transactions.
Morris has worked closely with several developers, owners, REITs, private equity funds, investors and family-owned real estate businesses in all aspects of domestic and international commercial real estate transactions including complex debt and property acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, financings, debt restructuring, as well as retail, office and industrial leasing. He has successfully handled issues ranging from compliance with administrative regulations, land use and development issues, to the production and negotiation of intellectual property.
As a result of his experience in working with the heads of multi-billion dollar companies, Morris has the ability to quickly assess and understand the business operations of his clients in order to assist them in achieving their goals, often by developing unique and unexpected paths to arrive at the desired solution.
Morris brings business, technical and practical experience as well as a level of commitment to a remarkable track record in structuring and facilitating high profile deals in all major asset classes. He is particularly adept at the structuring and negotiation of complex joint ventures and partnership agreements. His inventiveness and business experience are invaluable assets to his clients.
Among the domestic and international transactions Morris has facilitated are flagship projects in the world’s most exclusive locations such as London’s Mayfair and St. James’ neighborhoods, Paris’ Champs Elysses, Rome’s Via Spiga, Spain’s Puerta del Sol, and New York’s Fifth and Madison Avenues. Morris has also handled some of the largest retail leasing transactions in New York including Bulgari, Cartier, Coach, Ermenegildo Zegna and Valentino on Fifth Avenue. He has handled record-making deals involving residential towers, office buildings, hotels, retail properties, shopping malls, and industrial properties.
In his private life, Morris is a committed civic leader and philanthropist, contributing to and advising numerous charities and public service organizations.
