Nate has represented individual clients and businesses in a variety of matters, including real estate, business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, contract matters, shareholder disputes, employment matters, and trademark, copyright, and IP. Nate also has considerable experience representing developers and landowners in renewable energy and sustainable resource real estate and business transactions. Ultimately, Nate brings a wide range of experience to every transaction, and he can advise clients about all aspects of their matters.

FMJ understands that real estate transactions can be mission-critical operations for businesses. FMJ has the depth and breadth of experience necessary to help navigate, negotiate, and manage the nuanced elements of real estate transactions.  FMJ provides guidance and advice to fit any need, whether the client operates a real estate portfolio with ongoing commercial purchase and sale or lease transactions, is an experienced investor, is investing in real estate for the first time, or has real estate needs as part of its general business operations.

While real estate law spans an array of sub-categories, FMJ brings particular strength and unique experience to commercial real estate transactions, telecommunications/cell tower leasing and licensing, renewable energy and sustainable resources, portfolios of retail or industrial office sites, and advising those engaged in the business of real estate (including owner-occupied investors, property management companies, landlords, construction companies, developers, land use, and commercial property tax appeals). FMJ also has a litigation team that can handle a variety of real estate litigation matters such as property tax appeals, boundary line disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, breach of contract, and trespass and nuisance claims.

Real estate transactions are complex and often demand experience in areas beyond the core real estate transaction, including finance, corporate and business law, and mergers and acquisitions. FMJ’s real estate practice group provides a variety of skill and experience to give clients comfort and confidences in all facets of commercial real estate purchases, sales, or leasing.

Fafinski Mark & Johnson (FMJ) is a full-service commercial law firm, based in Minnesota. Since its inception in 1999, FMJ has had one primary goal: providing big-firm knowledge and expertise, but in a more intimate, small-firm customer service model. This means more attentive service at a lower cost.

To achieve this goal, FMJ integrates its team with that of its clients. Senior-level attorneys lead each client’s legal team and serve as project managers. For many clients, project managers serve as the client’s “in-house” counsel or an extension of the in-house team already in place. This integrated team-based approach allows FMJ to provide our clients with world-class representation coupled with the level of responsiveness and attention that is only possible in a smaller, more agile working environment. Thanks, in part, to this approach, FMJ has been recognized in the 2022 edition of the U.S. News – Best Lawyers® Best Law Firms list for Real Estate Law in Minneapolis.

FMJ works with owners and managers of a diverse portfolio of individuals, businesses, corporations, and other entities, earning their trust and respect far beyond the typical attorney-client relationship. FMJ has struck a chord with large and mid-size businesses (including both public and private) that look for an alternative to the “Big Law” experience, including representing 17 Fortune 500 companies since its inception. As a firm that began with only four people, FMJ is also passionate about working with small businesses, including start-ups.
